Visit beautiful Tuscany and stay at the Casa Portagioia Bed and Breakfast…rated #1 bed and breakfast in the world three times over. Check out our highlights video below and you’ll get a taste of what’s to come on your next visit to the heart of Tuscany.

Casa Portagioia Bed and Breakfast is a 5-star Tuscan Bed and Breakfast with villas that will have you never wanting to return home. The comfort and care given to guests are unlike anything you will find anywhere in the Tuscan countryside. A lavish breakfast is served every morning and dinner two nights a week by the owners of this sprawling luxury estate. Adjacent to everything you need to experience in the Tuscan countryside, you won’t want to miss this experience. Stay here!

We hope you have a rental car and are driving around. There is nothing like motoring around Tuscany, especially if the weather is warm. We also recommend a hearty match of rock-paper-scissors for who is stuck as the designated driver.

Stop in Cortona! Cortona is a beautiful little hilltop town in Tuscany. It is thoroughly medieval with steep narrow streets situated on a hillside that embraces a view of the whole of the Valdichiana. The foundation of Cortona remains mixed in legends dating to classical times, later reworked especially in the late Renaissance period under Cosimo I de’ Medici. If you are an art-lover, The Annunciation of Cortona (1433-1434) is the famous panel-painting altarpiece or retable by Fra Angelico: once housed in the Church of Gesù of Cortona, and is now held at the Museo Diocesano in Cortona.

Castiglion Fiorentino lies at the center of a triangle formed by important cities such as Florence, Siena, and Perugia. Originally an Etruscan settlement and later a medieval village lies close to the famous Valdichiana and Cortona.

Montepulciano and Montalcino are two towns not to be missed, especially if you are a wine-lover. These quaint hill towns are competitors in the wine trade. Don’t do both in one day. Also, be patient when parking. It’s not so easy.

Montalcino was once a strategic point along the road to Rome and offers a panoramic view of the beautiful Asso, Orcia and Ombrone valleys. The town’s fame derives from its production of one of Italy’s finest red wines known as Brunello di Montalcino.

Montepulciano has origins from the Etruscan people starting from the IV century BC. It also has notoriety for the wealth of excellent vineyards, from which we obtain the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG. I don’t think we’ve ever had such wonderful wines.

Pienza is a small town close to Montepulciano and Siena. It is a rare example of Renaissance town building. Defined, from time to time as the “ideal city”, or the “utopian city”, it represents one of the best-planned Renaissance towns.

Above all, enjoy the scenery. This part of Italy is breathtakingly beautiful and deserves your undivided attention. I recommend trading DD responsibilities.
