Dive the Galapagos

If you are an advanced diver, THIS is your adventure!

We’ve never seen so much sea life in one place! We did 14 dives and saw 12 whale sharks; the gentle giants. (So endearing. When they get scared, they close their eyes! Is that adorable or what?) On the serious side, diving in the Galapagos Islands is not for the faint of heart nor for the inexperienced diver. To qualify for the trip, you have to have at least 100 dives under your belt.

You go from the liveaboard boat to a Zodiac and do a negative entry, equalizing early and often, sinking as fast as possible to grab a rock, under which, might be a giant eel. Keep your head on a swivel. But did I mention WHALE SHARKS?! If you want to hang around with a creature the size of a school bus that doesn’t want to eat you, do this. You’ll also see schooling hammerhead sharks, rays, seals, eels, and possibly a Mola mola which is a sunfish the size of a single-car garage door. It’s deep. It’s cold. There’s surge. But it’s so worth it.
