Key West, Florida

Feeling a need to slow things down?

Then head to Key West, Florida! Time passes leisurely and summer seems to be the only season!

Located at the southernmost point in the United States, Key West is known for its easy pace,  relaxed beaches and pastel architecture. But don’t fret, there is great nightlife and a ton of water sports to choose from to keep even the most energized very happily occupied.

Make sure to peruse the many shops, bars, and cafes on Duval Street, including Sloppy Joe’s bar, a Key West tradition and a favorite hangout of novelist Ernest Hemingway. (A note about open containers: this is not New Orleans. There is a law against walking around with a drink, but if you’re a tourist, chances are you’ll get off with a warning.)

Without a doubt, visit Ernest Hemingway’s Home and Museum, which is in Old Town and hosts the offspring of the famous six-toed cats that the author loved so dearly.

Take a leisurely stroll around the island by booking a walking tour. They are easily arranged and the best way to see the island’s intriguing homes, lovely courtyards and gardens!

End your day at Mallory Square where the sunsets are enchanting and unreal. Family friendly and filled with food vendors, musicians, and performers, it’s a great way to transition into the lively night party for everyone.

For the ultimate experience, we love the Casa Marina Beach & Resort Club Waldorf Astoria.

Located in a short walking distance to 3 different beaches and just over a mile away from the Southernmost Point, the resort is ideal. For those of you who would prefer to stay close, there are 2 outdoor pools with poolside bars, 3 onsite restaurants, a full-service spa, and a health club!

Another favorite is The Reach, A Waldorf Astoria Resort

Hosting a private beach and close to Duval street, this is the perfect location for those who want to seclusion but also want to enjoy their extroverted side.

For Divers: While the Florida Keys is never a destination, we can never pass up an opportunity to get our lungs wet. http://www.divekeywest.com/ is the best. (I got certified there.) You hand over your gear and you never touch it again until you put it on. They take care of everything. This service will spoil any diver rotten.

For those who love cruising: tag on some extra days and spend some time either before or after the cruise at this favorite port location and frequent stop when cruising Celebrity Equinox.
